From Media-Based Modulation to Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: Potential Candidates for 6G

In this talk, we first discuss the emerging index modulation concept, its applications, and most notably, its emerging variants such as media-based modulation. Then we make a connection between media-based modulation and reconfigurable intelligent surface-empowered communication, and discuss their potential for 6G within the perspective of beyond massive MIMO technologies.
