The talk will discuss the latest advances in the emerging technologies of in-band Full Duplex (FD) Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs), focusing on their recent promising considerations for Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC). Various FD-enabled simultaneous transmit and receive MIMO architectures (fully digital, hybrid analog and digital, metasurface-antenna based, and wideband) for realizing simultaneous data communication and channel estimation, sensing-aided beam alignment and localization, as well as simultaneous uplink and downlink communications and tracking of moving targets will be presented. State-of-the-art hardware architectures for multi-functional RISs and their recent optimizations for ISAC will be also discussed. The talk will be concluded with a list of novel perspectives and future directions for FD-MIMO- and RIS-enabled ISAC in the upcoming 6G wireless networks.
